Our Methodology
Transparent Calculations for Cryptocurrency Wealth
Net Worth Calculation Overview
Our net worth calculations combine multiple asset classes to provide a comprehensive view of each individual's total wealth in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
The Formula
This comprehensive approach ensures we capture the full scope of wealth in the crypto ecosystem, including traditional assets that may have been acquired through cryptocurrency gains.
Component Breakdown
Bitcoin Holdings
Bitcoin holdings represent the cornerstone of most crypto wealth. We track:
- Known Wallet Addresses: Publicly associated Bitcoin addresses
- Disclosed Holdings: Holdings reported in interviews, filings, or public statements
- Company Holdings: Bitcoin held by companies where the individual has significant ownership
Other Cryptocurrency Holdings
Beyond Bitcoin, we track major cryptocurrency holdings including:
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Binance Coin (BNB)
- Solana (SOL)
- Ripple (XRP)
- Other significant altcoins
- DeFi protocol tokens
Note: We focus on liquid, publicly traded cryptocurrencies. Illiquid tokens, NFTs, and unreleased tokens are generally excluded unless reliably valued.
Fiat Currency Holdings
Traditional currency holdings include:
- Disclosed cash positions
- Known bank account balances (from public filings)
- Proceeds from known crypto sales
- Traditional investment returns
Stock and Equity Holdings
For individuals with significant traditional investments:
- Public company stock holdings
- Private equity positions (when valued)
- Company ownership stakes
- Stock options and RSUs (when vested)

Important Considerations
Limitations
- We cannot track holdings in private wallets unless publicly disclosed
- Lost or inaccessible coins are included if not confirmed lost
- Leveraged positions and derivatives are generally excluded
- Illiquid assets may not be fully reflected
Accuracy Factors
Several factors affect the accuracy of our calculations:
Market Volatility
Cryptocurrency prices can change dramatically within minutes. Our 5-minute update cycle minimizes but cannot eliminate timing differences.
Private Holdings
Many individuals hold cryptocurrency in private wallets that cannot be traced. Our figures represent minimum known holdings.
Complex Structures
Holdings through companies, trusts, and other vehicles may not be fully captured if ownership structures are opaque.
Time Delays
There may be delays between when holdings change and when public information becomes available.
Transparency Commitment
We believe in complete transparency about our methods. If you have questions about how specific calculations are performed or want to understand our data sources better, we encourage you to:
- Review our open methodology documentation
- Examine specific calculation examples
- Understand the limitations of our approach
- Suggest improvements to our methodology
Our goal is to provide the most accurate, transparent, and useful information about cryptocurrency wealth distribution. By making our methodology public, we invite scrutiny and collaboration in improving these calculations.
Have Questions?
We're committed to transparency and accuracy. If you have questions about our methodology or suggestions for improvement, we'd love to hear from you.
